As a Senior Transaction Advisor, Jonathan brings experience from investment banking, investor relations and venture capital.
Jonathan most recently co-founded Astr Partners, which focuses on creating bespoke investor relations solutions for public and private life sciences companies to help them prepare for capital raising, licensing and ongoing exposure to institutional investors and the sell-side.
Jonathan also serves as an Advisor to the Israel Biotech Fund and is also a Partner on the Cancer Focus Fund in collaboration with the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Jonathan previously was the Vice Chairman of Healthcare Investment Banking at Oppenheimer where he advised both public and private healthcare companies across various transaction types including financings and M&A.
Previously, Jonathan founded and was the CEO of The Trout Group, the leading investor relations firm in the life sciences industry. Trout served over 250 public and private companies from its six offices around the world. Trout’s clients also had challenges accessing capital, leading Mr. Fassberg to start Trout Group’s sister company, Trout Capital, in 2004 to assist clients in a financial advisory role.
After Trout, Jonathan was the Co-CEO of Solebury Trout, which advised private and public companies across sectors, helping management teams tackle complex investor relations challenges, capitalize on corporate communications opportunities, access the market and prepare for capital raising.
Jonathan managed 60+ professionals with expertise in investor relations, equity research, portfolio management, private equity, investment banking and corporate communications work at Solebury Trout.
Prior to founding the Trout Group in 1996, Jonathan was a sell-side analyst at a healthcare-focused investment bank. Before his career on Wall Street, Jonathan spent four years at DuPont Pharma in various sales and marketing positions.
Jonathan has been an active member of Young Presidents Organization since joining the Manhattan Chapter in 2007 and is currently serving as Chapter Chair. He also sits on the board of directors for the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies at UNC.
